PDR Deer Hunt for Disabled Youth
SMALL TOWN HOSTS BIG GAME HUNT FOR DISABLED YOUTH
The eighteenth annual PDR Hunt for disabled youth will take place this weekend. This event is a free white-tail hunting opportunity for youth aged 12 to 18 with any disability. It is organized and hosted by volunteers from Clark, South Dakota (population 1,116). According to PDR Hunt founder Dean Rasmussen, the event involves many members of the Clark community and area sponsors
Local landowners in northeastern South Dakota provide access to deer hunting areas. Volunteers coordinate accommodations for hunters’ special needs, including providing handicapped-accessible blinds, arranging field transport, organizing meals, and booking lodging.
This year's participants are from several South Dakota towns:
• Shawn from Castlewood
• Kolby from Volin
• Jeren & Jaxon from Montrose
• Chris from Mitchell
• Jeffrey from Mitchell
• Coy from Ipswich
• Xavier from Sioux Falls
• Case from Clark
The PDR Hunt is scheduled for September 19–21, 2025. Reporters are welcome to attend on any day or call for follow-up stories.
