Assistive Daily Living Services

What is the Assistive Daily Living Services (ADLS)?

The ADLS Program provides services to assist eligible individuals who have a substantial functional impairment to all four limbs to remain living independently in their homes. The services available are Case Management Services, Consumer Preparation Services, Personal Attendant Services, LifeLine, Private Duty Nursing, and Incontinence Supplies.

Who is eligible?

• An individual who has a functional limitation in all four limbs due to ataxia, cerebral palsy, rheumatoid arthritis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, congenital conditions (other than traumatic brain injury), accidents and injuries to the spinal cord, and other neuro-muscular conditions/diseases; or an individual with four limbs absent due to congenital conditions.
• The individual must be medically stable and free from any life-threatening, infectious, or contagious conditions.
• The disability must be expected to continue indefinitely.
• The individual must be 18 years of age or older.
• The individual must be capable and competent of directing, scheduling, and training their own personal attendant services (PAS) on a daily basis.
• Must require nursing facility level of care.
• The individual is limited to 42 hours per week for personal care tasks which may include 4 hours per week for homemaker tasks.
• There are income and asset limitations.

What are the participant's responsibilities?

The participant is responsible for managing and directing the personal attendant(s) which includes interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, preparing time sheets, and maintaining an appropriate personal and professional relationship with the personal attendant(s). Participants will learn these and other responsibilities through the case manager and education specialist.
